What’s Happening in Bellevue

Tommy Kreutzer
Spotlight Series: Tommy Kreutzer

Bellevue takes great pride in cultivating a strong sense of community, which is made possible by the dedicated individuals who call it home. One individual among them is Tommy Kreutzer. Tommy has worked at Lincoln Avenue Brewery (“LAB”) for about three and a half years. His co-workers, the owners, and the customers he’s come to know at LAB treat him like family, which makes it more than just a workplace for him. Every day, he feels lucky to be surrounded by a true sense of belonging at the brewery and throughout Bellevue. He loves walking through Bellevue, whether it’s to work, to Kuhns, or Scoops. He constantly feels positivity radiating from every corner of his community. As an athlete and spokesperson for the Special Olympics, having unwavering encouragement from the LAB team and Bellevue has been truly transformative. The warmth and support from the tight-knit community have played a significant part in his life.

Tommy’s involvement with the Special Olympics started with an invitation from a friend to try bocce. At first, he enjoyed the social aspect of it and how he could meet new people through the game, but it quickly became more. One year, he and his team qualified via competition for the Special Olympics Fall State Game at Villanova University. That experience opened up a new world for Tommy, igniting a love for competition and camaraderie. Since then, he has expanded his participation to multiple sports, including golf, basketball, softball, soccer, and floor hockey. Through these experiences, Tommy has honed his athletic abilities and become a leader, encouraging his teammates both on and off the field.

One of Tommy’s proudest accomplishments is serving as a Global Messenger for the Special Olympics. This role has led him to incredible opportunities, such as emceeing events like the Law Enforcement Torch Run Kickoff at PNC Park and at Opening Ceremonies for Special Olympics State Games in Pennsylvania. He’s even been interviewed on WDVE radio to promote the Pittsburgh Polar Plunge. Tommy has also made a huge impact this year by becoming Pittsburgh’s 6th highest individual fundraiser, raising over $13,000 for the Pittsburgh Polar Plunge. His dedication to the cause is a testament to his selfless nature and unwavering commitment to helping others.

Born on Mr. Rogers’s birthday, it’s no surprise that Tommy embodies many of the same qualities—kindness, helpfulness, and a genuine desire to improve the world. When asked what he hopes people take away from his story, Tommy keeps it simple yet powerful: “I’m a kind, helpful, caring, trustworthy, respectful, considerate, and selfless person who loves sports.” Whether working his shift at Lincoln Avenue Brewery, on the field at a Special Olympics event, or just walking through Bellevue, Tommy brings warmth and positivity wherever he goes.
