BELLEVUE FORWARD board meeting RECAP september 2024
Bellevue Forward September Board Meeting Overview

Bellevue Forward held its first board meeting on September 29, 2024, marking a pivotal moment for the organization as it begins its mission to promote economic growth and cultural engagement in Bellevue. Hosted at Tavern Pizza, the meeting opened with the introduction of new board members, including Tamra Franklin, Ian Rodgers, Kayla Schafer, and RJ Startzenbach, who were officially appointed through approved motions. The board then reviewed key leadership roles and the responsibilities of each position, ensuring that the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and general board members are aligned in their duties.

A minor portion of the meeting was dedicated to discussing the implementation of Robert’s Rules of Order, which will guide future meetings and ensure orderly discussions and decision-making. The board emphasized the importance of having structured conversations and motions, clarifying that these procedures will help achieve transparency and fairness. With the rules approved by a unanimous vote, Bellevue Forward is set to operate efficiently as it moves forward with its projects.

The board also focused on the organization’s fundraising efforts, touching on seeking donations and exploring grant opportunities. RJ Startzenbach was designated as Bellevue Forward’s representative to Bona Fide Bellevue, while Tamra Franklin will liaise with the Borough of Bellevue.

One of the main topics of the meeting was an overview of Bellevue Forward’s ongoing and upcoming programs. The success of the Taste of Bellevue event, which attracted over 100 attendees, was celebrated, and future events, including First Fridays, the Itty Bitty Art Show Fundraiser (a Bayne Library event), and the Halloween in Bellevue celebration, were highlighted. The board was enthusiastic about continuing to engage the community through fun and meaningful events that support local businesses and bring people together.

Additionally, the board discussed strategic partnerships with educational institutions such as Point Park University and Pitt. These collaborations will see students working with Bellevue Forward on projects such as the Spotlight Series, which will feature illustrated posters and blog posts about key figures in the community, and the Bellevue Music Festival, both of which aim to increase community involvement and visibility. These partnerships will provide valuable learning opportunities for students while contributing to Bellevue Forward’s goals.

The meeting concluded with an open floor discussion, allowing board members to share insights and suggestions for future initiatives. Action items were assigned, and a regular meeting schedule was set to keep the momentum going. With a clear vision and a dedicated team, Bellevue Forward is well-positioned to continue making a positive impact on the community. The meeting adjourned at 1:36 PM, setting the stage for a bright future in Bellevue’s economic and cultural development.

The September board meeting notes will become publicly available once they are approved by the board of directors at the next board meeting in October. Thank you.
